Our domestic hot water systems are routinely supplied with cylinders, serving as essential components for both direct-fired and indirect-fired installations. In a direct-fired system, the water inside the cylinder is heated directly by the heat source, such as a heat pump or gas boiler. Conversely, in an indirect-fired system, the water inside the cylinder is heated via a built-in internal coil or an external plate heat exchanger (HEX), rather than an independent burner element, acting as the thermal link between the boiler or heat pump and the domestic water.
Indirect Fired Cylinders (IBV)
Indirect fired vertical cylinders (IBV) are typically applied in combination with gas-, oil-, or wood-pellet-fired boilers, as well as district heating networks. These vessels are manufactured from premium-grade stainless steel, ensuring a long operational lifespan. The hourglass-shaped internal coil optimizes thermal transfer and ensures rapid heat-up times, enabling high-volume domestic hot water delivery for maximum user comfort. Thanks to being 100% pickled and passivated, these units are maintenance-free and exceptionally easy to install due to their low weight.

Indirect Loading Cylinders (OBV)
Loading cylinders (OBV) are designed for mechanical systems where thermal energy transfer occurs via an external plate heat exchanger (HEX) instead of an internal coil. This configuration allows for the rapid heating of a very large volume of sanitary water. Constructed from high-grade stainless steel for a long service life, these 100% pickled and passivated vessels require zero maintenance and benefit from a lightweight design that simplifies installation.
Meeting peak domestic hot water demands
Storage cylinders are critical for managing hot water delivery, providing the buffer volume necessary to meet high demand during peak consumption periods. Working closely with our clients, we perform bespoke sizing calculations to advise on the ideal system architecture for each unique application. Our domestic hot water systems are widely specified across healthcare institutions, office complexes, commercial facilities, sports complexes, and apartment blocks. While these systems operate seamlessly alongside gas-fired boilers, they are also perfectly suited for integration with electric heat pumps, offering an immediate pathway toward building decarbonization.
